How does resource planning help your project management?

"Resource planning"… It sounds so fancy.  But, honestly, it's a simple concept to understand -- and it's absolutely vital for your business.
Basically, resource planning is a fancy way of describing your plan for each project and what resources are being used at certain times.  Who's responsible for what?  What kind of deadlines do you need to meet?  Which parts of the project need to be completed first?

Makes sense, right?

But if you want to make your resource planning run as smoothly as possible, you need resource management software to do it.  Here's why:

1. You can make changes with the click of a mouse

Good software lets you drag and drop things, so you can reschedule portions of your project in a matter of seconds.

Making things even easier, everyone in your company can see what's going on.  So, when something has to be rescheduled, it will pop up on their computer screens -- meaning you'll get to avoid the lengthy staff meetings, the drawn-out emails, and the running from office to office as you try to keep everyone in the loop.

2. You can see everyone's obligations

Your resource planning software will have a space for each employee on it where you can list their responsibilities.  That way, you won't have to worry about inadvertently overloading any single person.

3. You can look at each time frame

If you want to see how next week shapes up or you want to see what's on the agenda for next month, the information is only a click away.  As a result, it's easy to see if you're on track, ahead of schedule, or dangerously behind.  From there, you can make adjustments accordingly.
